Since the program began earlier this year, more than 55 artists\u2014half of whom are BIPOC and women\u2014have signed on, according to the announcement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-5a46198a-12 ggMJgB\">\u201cIt started with TikTok being such a driving force in the beauty industry, especially with Gen Z,\u201d Brent Mitchell, VP of social media and influencers, told Essence. \u201cWe really wanted to build our own music approach, leaning into Sephora\u2019s values of inclusivity and equity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-5a46198a-12 ggMJgB\">Mitchell added that the hope is to amplify artists who \u201caren\u2019t getting the push from the big labels yet.\u201d According to the announcement, one artist\u2019s Spotify listens increased by 30,000 after they were featured in a Sephora campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-5a46198a-12 ggMJgB\">Sephora Sounds aligns with the company\u2019s commitment to diversity in its sales and marketing. In addition to creating ads about Black beauty, Sephora has also created a \u201cSquad\u201d of diverse influencers and committed to allocating 15% of shelf space to Black-owned brands in recent years.
