{"id":2884,"date":"2023-06-29T08:59:28","date_gmt":"2023-06-29T08:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mysourcefunding.com\/funding\/seed-funding-and-pre-seed-funding-explained\/"},"modified":"2023-06-29T08:59:30","modified_gmt":"2023-06-29T08:59:30","slug":"seed-funding-and-pre-seed-funding-explained","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mysourcefunding.com\/?p=2884","title":{"rendered":"Seed funding and pre-seed funding explained"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h2>How does seed funding differ from series funding?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Where pre-seed and seed funding are available to completely new businesses who are starting from practically nothing, <strong>Series A, B and C funding<\/strong> is available only to startups that are further along from the pre-seed and seed stages, and basically already established and showing significant growth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To attract series funding, a business will usually have to be already seen as at least viable, \u201cup and coming\u201d and already growing steadily or rapidly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Funding in general aims to provide you with the specific amount (and potential support) that is relative to the stage of business you\u2019re in, to give you the best chance of exponential growth to benefit all parties involved. The amount can increase incrementally as your business grows. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The term \u2018series funding\u2019 is how it is categorised by amount after pre-seed and seed, following the pattern of the alphabet (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Series A, B, C<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and so on).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another key difference between the seed rounds and the series rounds is that pre-seed and seed rounds are usually a one-time opportunity kind of deal. You can only be the new business on the block and have that as an excusable set of circumstances <\/span><b>once<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Series A, B, C and so on are types of funding that happen at multiple junctures. They can increase in capital amount with each round, but you can also have <\/span><b>multiple rounds at any specific stage<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. That is, you can have multiple Series A rounds before even moving on to Series B, for example.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This may happen if there is still more to be done in a specific stage, but it simply requires more capital to be done.
