He was previously a partner at the PR and branding firm Braithwaite Communications, and he started his career in radio, serving as a longtime radio host covering the Philadelphia Eagles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\"><strong>Favorite project you\u2019ve worked on? <\/strong>In 2020, my company worked with a boutique consulting firm that was full of truly warm, funny and honest humans. But their brand didn\u2019t reflect that. Like most consulting firms, they thought they needed to act seriously all the time. We wanted their brand to be in true alignment with their energy, so we brought it to life with a new look that was unique to them\u2014it was energetic, fun, smart; exactly what working with the team was like. They were willing to take a chance and stand out, which is what marketing is all about.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\"><strong>What\u2019s your favorite ad campaign? <\/strong>This is reaching back a bit, but Vonage had a TV ad in 2015 where the tagline was \u201cThe Business of Better.\u201d The ad itself was humorous and energetic, but I loved it because of the word \u201cbetter.\u201d \u201cBetter\u201d is such a powerful word; it\u2019s about continually striving. \u201cBetter\u201d is better than \u201cbest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\"><strong>One thing we can\u2019t guess from your LinkedIn profile: <\/strong>Once upon a time, hundreds of thousands of people valued my opinion on professional football\u2014I hosted an Eagles pre- and post-game radio show from 2000 to 2013. I could never be a full time sports talk host\u2014so much if it is focused on being as outrageous as possible\u2014but I\u2019ll admit that side of me sometimes creeps into my work.<\/p>\n<div class=\"style__InlineSubscribeWrapper-sc-9b30af34-1 xBGLJ inline-subscribe\">\n<div id=\"inline-subscribe\" class=\"style__RoundedContainer-sc-bac6188c-0 jnRTsW\">\n<h5 class=\"inline-subscribe\">Get marketing news you&#8217;ll actually want to read<\/h5>\n<p class=\"inline-subscribe\">Marketing Brew informs marketing pros of the latest on brand strategy, social media, and ad tech via our weekday newsletter, virtual events, marketing conferences, and digital guides.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\"><strong>What marketing trend are you most optimistic about? Least? <\/strong>I\u2019ve been writing and talking about LLMO (large-language model optimization) a lot lately\u2014this is a gold-rush moment. LLMs are changing how people find information, and how brands get found. Yes, you still need technical SEO and schema markup for LLMs to read your content clearly, but the differentiator is the useful, well-written, authentic insight that reflects your expertise; having it published by a media outlet (rather than on your website) is a huge amplifier. Conversely, I thank god we\u2019re not an SEO agency; their days are numbered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\"><strong>What\u2019s one marketing-related podcast\/social account\/series you&#8217;d recommend? <\/strong>I\u2019m not too tuned into podcasts (I\u2019m more of a visual learner), but do have a few book recommendations for you: <em>Oversubscribed<\/em> by Daniel Priestley, which provides a framework for getting prospective clients to practically beg to work with you; <em>Humanizing B2B<\/em> by Paul Cash and James Trezona, which makes the case for using stories and emotion in marketing so-called boring businesses; and <em>Return on Courage<\/em> by Ryan Berman, which was an inspiration for my own book, <em>Playing It Safe Sucks<\/em> (shameless plug!).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Read the full article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketingbrew.com\/stories\/2025\/08\/18\/coworking-with-john-miller?utm_source=&#038;utm_medium=syndication&#038;utm_campaign=feed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each week, we spotlight Marketing Brew readers in our Coworking series.
