She has also served in senior positions at the streaming service Britbox, AMC Networks, and Hearst.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\"><strong>How would you describe your job to someone who doesn\u2019t work in marketing? <\/strong>In simplest terms, I help grow subscriptions to The Economist. And I do that in three main ways: One, making more people aware of our brand\u2014especially those who are already interested in news and current affairs. Next, encouraging people to subscribe through digital advertising\u2014like targeted ads on platforms such as Facebook or making sure we show up when people search on Google. And finally, improving how we spend our marketing budget\u2014so we\u2019re investing in the most effective channels to grow in a smart and profitable way. This means a lot of testing and optimizing of ads, messaging, and targeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\"><strong>What\u2019s your favorite ad campaign? <\/strong>Always\u2019s #LikeAGirl that started in 2014 really stands out for its emotional resonance, cultural relevance, and brand consistency. It took a common insult and reframed it, turning \u201clike a girl\u201d into a statement of strength\u2014timely, meaningful, and perfectly aligned with Always\u2019s mission to empower young women.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\"><strong>One thing we can\u2019t guess from your LinkedIn profile:<\/strong> You probably wouldn\u2019t have guessed that I\u2019m both an avid swimmer (swimming at least one mile several times a week) and an avid traveler (having visited 39 countries, many several times, and another 26 on my immediate must-travel list).<\/p>\n<div class=\"style__InlineSubscribeWrapper-sc-9b30af34-1 xBGLJ inline-subscribe\">\n<div id=\"inline-subscribe\" class=\"style__RoundedContainer-sc-bac6188c-0 jnRTsW\">\n<h5 class=\"inline-subscribe\">Get marketing news you&#8217;ll actually want to read<\/h5>\n<p class=\"inline-subscribe\">Marketing Brew informs marketing pros of the latest on brand strategy, social media, and ad tech via our weekday newsletter, virtual events, marketing conferences, and digital guides.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\"><strong>What marketing trend are you most optimistic about? After years of prioritizing performance marketing at the expense of brand investment, more businesses are recognizing that the two aren\u2019t mutually exclusive\u2014they\u2019re complementary. When done well, they work together to create a sustainable and powerful growth engine. What makes this especially promising now is that modern measurement tools\u2014like media mix modeling, causal impact analysis, and brand lift studies\u2014have made it far easier to measure and optimize brand investment than it was even a decade ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\">I\u2019m more cautious about the changing nature of organic search, particularly with Google\u2019s zero-click strategy and the rise of AI-powered search tools. These trends are eroding traditional SEO value by reducing the need for users to click through to publisher websites. This shift poses real challenges for content visibility and traffic, especially for high-quality, editorially driven sites.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-1ef9199a-8 zNSXu\"><strong>What\u2019s one marketing-related podcast\/social account\/series you\u2019d recommend? <\/strong>I\u2019m really digging the Marketing Insider Substack these days.
