In a write-up of the post-game celebration, a Sports Illustrated reporter confirmed the cans were Open, calling the beer a \u201cworkingman\u2019s beverage\u201d choice compared to the celebration\u2019s bottles of Armand de Brignac Ace of Spade Champagne, which retail for about $280.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-31cb6c8c-8 eOGsFs\">David Sypniewski, Open Brewing\u2019s managing director, told Marketing Brew the stunt was unplanned, but acknowledged the front-and-center placement benefited from the fact that the Eagle\u2019s third string tight-end C.J. Uzomah is a fan\u2014and an early investor in the brand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-31cb6c8c-8 eOGsFs\">\u201cThere wasn\u2019t this nefarious coup, [like] we\u2019re gonna hijack the Super Bowl,\u201d Sypniewski said.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-31cb6c8c-8 ekFpgi\"><strong>Drink up<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-31cb6c8c-8 eOGsFs\">Open, which was founded in 2023 and has seven employees, is distributed in Southern California and Las Vegas and is served at some bars in Tokyo. Sypniewski said there wasn\u2019t any \u201cplotting\u201d to sneak the beer into the Super Bowl. He likes the beer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-31cb6c8c-8 eOGsFs\">Apparently Barkley, the all-time record holder for rushing yards in the regular season and playoffs combined, does too. Sypniewski said friends immediately sent him the viral video of Barkley\u2019s shotgun after it was posted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-31cb6c8c-8 eOGsFs\">\u201cI was watching him shotgun and thinking about his backwards hurdle, just going, this guy\u2019s the best,\u201d Sypniewski said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-31cb6c8c-8 eOGsFs\">Sypniewski said there was an \u201cuptick\u201d in interest following the game, although he acknowledged that was anecdotal. (\u201cIt\u2019s not like we have a data team working around the clock to tally it,\u201d he said.) If anything, he said, the viral moment has helped grow awareness of the brand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-31cb6c8c-8 eOGsFs\">Open isn\u2019t planning any big marketing push out of the moment. Besides, the team wants to be careful not to go overboard, as<strong> <\/strong>Open Beer wants to land with the fashion-forward \u201chypebeast\u201d crowd, Sypniewski said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-31cb6c8c-8 eOGsFs\">\u201cYou don\u2019t [want to] get cringy with it.
