On Forbes Newsroom<\/em>, California Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman responded to the horrific attacks on Israel by Hamas from air, land and sea on October 7th \u2014 and Israel\u2019s subsequent bombardment on Gaza ahead of an expected ground invasion.<\/p>\n

Sherman shared his thoughts on the Biden Administration\u2019s response to the escalating conflict. \u201cI think we see how experienced President Biden is in foreign policy,\u201d Sherman tells Forbes Newsroom.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cHis support for Israel is expressed eloquently, and at the same time, he is reminding Israel to follow the rules of armed conflict, with a focus on trying to minimize the deaths of Palestinian civilians.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sherman responded to recent comments from Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), in which the Republican expressed unequivocal support for Israel, adding that the country could do whatever it must to defend itself, including leveling Gaza. Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) condemned the comments, arguing Graham\u2019s comments were an attempt to \u201cjustify the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sherman took issue with both lawmakers\u2019 comments, arguing that \u201cIsrael is doing what it can to protect the Palestinian people,\u201d adding that historically, this is the only time \u201cone of the warring sides\u201d has given advance notice.<\/p>\n

Sherman also discussed his recent condemnation of MSNBC\u2019s coverage of the conflict, in which he warned the network to not \u201ctake statements by Gaza bureaus at face value.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to Forbes, Sherman called out media for referring to Hamas as militants rather than terrorists, and said, \u201cI know the press is anxious to get information about what\u2019s happening in Gaza, but you can\u2019t embrace Hamas sources of that information as if they are likely to be accurate.\u201d<\/p>\n
