The update applies to audio, image, and video advertising across Google\u2019s platforms, ad display network, and YouTube.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-5a46198a-12 ggMJgB\">Synthetic content that has been edited in ways \u201cinconsequential to the claims made in the ad,\u201d such as image cropping or color correction, will be exempt from the disclosures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-5a46198a-12 ggMJgB\">Some AI-generated content has already appeared in political ads ahead of next year\u2019s presidential election. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis\u2019s campaign posted a video on X that appeared to include AI-generated deepfakes earlier this year, while the Republican National Committee released an ad that was \u201cbuilt entirely with AI imagery,\u201d per an on-screen disclaimer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__StyledText-sc-5a46198a-12 ggMJgB\">The update to Google\u2019s policy comes after the Federal Election Commission began exploring regulation of AI-generated deepfakes in political ads.
